Course Length: 80 hours

Course Description: The Diploma in TBE is for teachers, trainers, and professionals teaching English to business clientele.  This 3 module class will take 80 hours to complete and will be assessed by several functional assignments rather than a formalized exam.  This course requires no previous teaching experience or  teaching certification.

The course consists of 3 sections each instructing on one area of Business English

Section 1

Introduction to Professional Skills

Section 2

Business English Methodology and Teaching Tips

  • Classroom Management
  • Strategies and Learning Outcomes
  • 1-to-1 Teaching Methods
  • The Role of Grammar
  • Internet Aids for Business
  • Evaluating Materials

Section 3

Business Process and Practices

  • Knowing the Business Client
  • Understanding Differences in Culture
  • Conducting a Meeting
  • Using Negotiating Skills
  • Giving Presentations
  • Communicating for Business

Mode of Instruction and Evaluation

Coursework will entail classroom teaching, self-study, and practical assignments. Students will be assigned a tutor from the London Teachers Training College (LTTC) who will evaluate their assignments and provided additional assistance when necessary.  Each student will undergo essay assignments, which they must pass before being awarded their certification from LTTC.

Certificates Awarded

Successful completion of the Diploma in TBE will earn students a Diploma from the LTTC in TBE.  For more information on the LTTC certificate, please click this link:

Admission Requirements

Qualified candidates must be at least 21 years of age upon enrollment and have an advanced command of English. It is recommended that participants have a bachelor’s degree or equivalency, have a certified level of English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 600), and an interest in English language teaching. A background in the working world is an asset but not a requirement of this course.
