University Malaysia Sarawak
University Malaysia Sarawak or more popularly known by its acronym, UNIMAS, is the first public university in Sarawak and the eighth in Malaysia. It was established in 1993 with two pioneering faculties but now has eight faculties and four research institutes with a total student population of more than 5,500. The university campus is located in an area that has been especially designated as an ‘academic township’ in Kota Samarahan, about 25km from Kuching, the state capital of Sarawak.
